The Difference Between Stoves, Fireplaces and Inserts
The stoves offered at Mainline Home Energy Services are free-standing appliances fueled by wood, pellets, or gas. They can be made of cast iron or soapstone with a closed fire chamber lined by fire bricks and equipped with adjustable air controls. Stoves can be vented through stove pipes to a suitable chimney or flue.
Our fireplaces consist of a factory-built metal box with refractory bricks inside. The fireplaces at Mainline Home Energy Services can also be wood, pellet, or gas fueled. They are different than stoves in regards to their flexibility where they can be placed within the home.
Fireplace inserts are a stove, gas, wood or pellet product that is inserted into an open fireplace. They are typically installed into masonry fireplaces, but some models can be compatible with prefabricated fireplaces.
